This gives players more flexibility in how they choose to develop their civilizations. One supposed development within this game is the “technology web.” As opposed to the linear technology tree of previous Civilization titles, the technology web starts you from a center point, with different technologies radiating from said center point. This is especially disappointing when taking into account the outstanding reputation of Fireaxis Games, developer of the Civilization series.įans of the series will find several minor innovations in this title. I say this because Civilization: Beyond Earth fails almost entirely in going beyond what was done in the last Civilization title, Civilization V (which was released in 2010). There is a bug I’ve recently encountered: late in the game when I try launching a Phasal Transporter over an annexed city the game crashes (tried it several times.) Maybe once the city is out of the civil unrest phase I will then be able to place the phasal transporter over it.“Civilization: Not Earth” might very well be a more appropriate title for the latest game in the hit Civilization series. I always have one or two games saved that I can go back to at my convenience. A couple of years later I’m still playing this game wheen I have the time for it. For some reason, this game reminds me of the holographic chess game played by R2D2 and Chewbacca in the original Star Wars movie, the athestic is very similar which is cool. In this game a quote appears and is spoken when you achieve new tech. The only thing I miss about the old Alpha Centauri game is the cool video clips, artwork and animations when completing technology research. I also purchased the Rising Tide and map set adding to this game, they definitely make it better. I purchased this game because I am a player of the original DOS based version called Alpha Centauri.
